BULK CARGO CO-ORDINATOR
If you’re up for a challenge, we have just the job for you!
South Port is the southernmost commercial port in New Zealand located at Bluff. We offer full container, break bulk and bulk cargo capability and operate on a year round, 24 hour basis.
Bulk cargo accounts for approximately 87% of South Port’s total import and export cargo and is vital to the company’s continuing success.
In line with our port-wide focus on continuous improvement, and to cope with increasing cargo volume throughput, we have created a role that is designed to streamline and enhance the level of service to our valued bulk cargo customers.
The Bulk Cargo Co-ordinator will be a key support to the Port General Manager, who is responsible for the efficient use of port facilities and resources including specific responsibilities for health and safety and security.
In this role, a lot of the work is behind the scenes, co-ordinating bulk cargo and common user area activities associated with cargo movement. It will involve pre-planning, monitoring and reviewing day-to-day operational activities to ensure that schedules and performance requirements are met and port resources are used effectively. This includes leaseholder activities associated with bulk cargo storage and handling.
What we’re looking for:
· A champion for workplace safety, health and wellbeing
· Excellent communication and people management skills
· Relevant experience in the port industry
· Self-motivation and great time management and problem solving skills
· A good sort - someone who fits in with any team
Working in our dynamic and fast-paced port will be challenging, rewarding and definitely keep you on your toes!
