South Port welcomes new business from commercial clients. The port has ample berthage and storage facilities available, plus a further 7ha of on-port land available for further port development or industry establishment.

Bluff is also a gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage area and the New Zealand subantarctic islands with cruises departing throughout the summer season. Additionally tourist traffic through cruises to Stewart Island, Milford and Fiordland often pass through Bluff.
