New Zealand’s Aluminium Smelter (NZAS) announced today that they have secured energy supply contracts from Merdian Energy, Contact Energy, and Mercury for 20 years, out until 2044.
South Port is pleased to advise that after the recent successful dredging campaign, the Port can now accept vessels up to a maximum draft of 10.3m at high water. This is an interim step as we transition to the targeted operating draft of 10.7m at high water.

South Port NZ Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Carla Harper as an Intern Director to its Board of Directors for a term of one year as an intern director.
The South Port 2023 first half has been characterised by excellent progress being made on some longer-term initiatives for the Port, but with subdued operational performance reflecting demand constraints in China and a slowing domestic economy.
On 8 August, South Port notified the market that we had contracted Heron Construction Company Ltd operating under an existing coastal permit, to remove fractured or fragmented rock that remained in the Port harbour entrance channel from previous dredging campaigns.

Net earnings by South Port New Zealand Limited (South Port) have held up relatively well in the opening half-year, despite significant disruption in the supply chain and uncertainty created by the pandemic.
