Southland is a great place to live and do business and we are committed to growing the regional economy and ensuring the local business is productive, competitive, and sustainable. To do this we work alongside local businesses, assisting them to achieve success by exposing them to new opportunities and a wealth of resources.
The Southland Business Chamber is involved with the following networks:
Formed in 2000 as ‘The Southland Export Forum’ and re-branded in 2012, Export Southland works to achieve four main purposes:
Valuable sponsorship from South Port and HSBC has meant Export Southland is open to both Chamber members and non-members. Businesses can attend and contribute towards events, training, regular information, and updates as well as other services and connections. One of the highlights on the Chamber calendar is the biannual Export Southland Recognition dinner
Export Southland also provides opportunities to meet business people from a range of countries as from time to time we host incoming trade delegations and lead outgoing trade missions.
BNZ Biz Bites
BNZ Biz Bites is held on the first Wednesday of every month.
Hosted by BNZ and the Chamber, this event offers an informal environment where you are invited to bring your lunch and listen to a topical speaker.
These sessions are an ideal way to network and stay up to date on a multitude of valuable topics such as tax and employee changes, marketing, training, team building, business technology, and central government legislative changes.
Biz Bites is free to attend, but with the popularity of these sessions, you do need to register.
“Encouraging women in business to excel and support others towards greater success”
The Glass Elevator professional women’s networking group was launched in September 2012 and has rapidly become one of Chamber’s most popular networking options.
Glass Elevator provides a relaxed environment for networking events and seminars appealing to professional women. Held across breakfast, lunch, afternoon or evening sessions, the topics of interest range from personal growth to professional development.
Business After 5 (BA5)
A Business After Five (BA5) event is an informal occasion to network while expanding your horizons and knowledge of other businesses.
BA5 events are generally hosted by a member organisation and present the opportunity for the host business to promote themselves and their services or products. In the past, these events have been held in factories, offices, museums, workshops, warehouses, TV and radio stations, training centers - even on ships at Bluff port and boats at sea. BA5 events are usually free for members to attend but occasionally there may be a minimal cost.
Please contact the Southland Business Chamber if you are interested in hosting a BA5, it is an excellent way to showcase your business.
